Originally born as Andrej Pejic in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Andreja’s younger life was defined by the Bosnian conflicts and after the 1990 NATO bombing of Serbia, she became a Political refugee emigrating with her mother at the age of 8, to Australia.
An academically gifted student, fate intervened when she was scouted by a model agent at the age of 17. She made her debut for Jean Paul Gautier during the Paris shows in 2011, becoming a fashion icon by modelling in both men and womens catwalk shows. Her other work includes campaigns for Marc Jacobs, MCM, covers for GQ, STYLE.men, iD, NY Magazine, Citizen K and L’Officiel. In 2013 Andreja starred with Tilda Swinton in David Bowie’s music video for "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)". She recently walked for Giles Deacon at London Fashion Week.
Andreja is a fearless advocate and respected spokeswoman for the transgender community. Last year she realised her long term plan to undergo sex reassignment surgery and is working on a documentary about her journey.
