He started recording music at age 11 and released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group formed at his local church. In 2009, he signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to prominence in 2010 with the release of the song "Holla at Your Boy" from his debut studio album, Superstar (2011). In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, "One Dance", which reached number one in 15 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. He went on to release his third LP, Sounds From the Other Side, later that year which debuted at #2 on the Billboard’s World Album Chart. A handful of singles appeared in advance of the album, including "Sweet Love" and the Drake-assisted "Come Closer." In 2017, Billboard magazine reported that Wizkid signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records. Wizkid immediately began work on his fourth studio project titled Made in Lagos following his international campaign. Through his Star Boy Entertainment imprint, the pop star began teasing fans with collaborations like “Soco” and dominated the African air waves in 2018. At 28 years old, Wizkid became the first Afrobeats artist to sell out London's Royal Albert Hall and o2 Arena, proving his movement to be one of lasting global impact. He also walked alongside Naomi Campbell at Dolce & Gabbana’s runway show during Fashion Week in Milan, released a sell-out jersey collection with Nike, and signed a global ambassador deal with CIROC. Even with a handful of extracurriculars, Wizkid’s focus remains giving his fans real music as he gears up for the Made in Lagos EP release in 2019.
